These balls are the standard balls that come packed in with a new Tornado Table. These balls are widely known for there great control and high contrast.
"Our balls are made of Surlyn, which is the same stuff golf balls are made of. It is very tough and never deteriorates. Balls made by other companies are usually made of ABS or some other low cost plastic that is prone to chipping, flaking, or just being out of round. Our balls are injection moulded. They come out of the mould looking like a satellite [ apparently a central piece with a number of spokes, each with a ball at the end ] . Then they go into a centerless grinder, a very sophisticated computer controlled machine. This grinds them for a specific amount of time to achieve a certain size and near perfect roundness. They then go into a tumbler, again for a specific amount of time, that gives them their outer texture. Of course, a sampling of every batch of balls are tested for weight, roundness, and bounce with various test fixtures. As you know, with a certain amount of use, the texture begins to smooth, but the balls never deteriorate beyond that. Probably most important is the fact that these balls were engineered to achieve a certain compromise of speed and controllability with our men, and they work. They are very fast, but you can still grab them and control them. If you use them with different men or if you use a different ball with our men, this performance combination is diminished. All the other balls out there are, to say it nicely, a shot in the dark. They are designed only with cost in mind with little regard for their relationship with the other parts of the table or performance in general. Of course, ours are undoubtedly the most expensive balls available, but we designed them to perform and they do."
